Tyler Cagle is a criminal defense lawyer in West Texas and is a native son of Abilene. He is the only defense attorney in the Big Country that has previously served as a Taylor County prosecutor.

Growing up on the north side of town, Tyler came from humble beginnings and quickly identified the hard work, ethic, and values that it takes to overcome adversity and carve a place out in the world. Tyler is a proud graduate of Baylor University. After graduation, he chose to pursue his passion for helping other individuals that, like him, came from humble beginnings. After considering various career paths, Tyler ultimately determined that a career as a criminal defense lawyer would best position him to give back to his community. In 2017, he left the great state of Texas and attended law school at the University of Dayton Law School. During this time, he interned with a public defender office and gained firsthand knowledge and experience in handling indigent clients. Although time away from his family and the Abilene community proved challenging at times, Tyler persevered. Through hard work and dedication, he completed law school in just two years with an emphasis on criminal law. After completing law school, Tyler made his way back to his beloved hometown right here in West Texas.

Career Experience

After law school, Tyler served as a state prosecutor for two years with the Taylor County District Attorney’s Office. During that time, he built a reputation with the courts and his fellow prosecutors as being a hard worker and a zealous advocate. The State of Texas entrusted him to handle various cases while employed at Taylor County, including but not limited to DWI, Assault, Drug violations, and Domestic Violence cases, amongst others. Tyler has handled hundreds of criminal cases and tried several more through jury trials.

As a criminal defense lawyer, Tyler leverages his experience as a prosecutor and his professional relationships at the DA’s office to obtain remarkable results for his clients. He represents clients in both felony and misdemeanor cases throughout the Big Country. He combines his wide range of understanding of state criminal law with his practical knowledge of the struggles people face every day in the criminal justice system. His goal is to not only aid his clients in their legal issues but to help be a shoulder to lean on in their personal lives. His knowledge of the law and his obsessive nature to be prepared is mutually beneficial to his clients and colleagues and has been instrumental in his success both in and out of the courtroom.

Tyler enjoys spending time with his amazing wife and family, playing golf and basketball, and cheering on his Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Oklahoma City Thunder.
