The Lorfing Law Firm, a boutique litigation firm in West Texas specializing in Federal Criminal Defense and Personal Injury in West Texas is pleased to offer The Lorfing Law Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded annually, in the amount of $1,000.00.

Mr. Lorfing was the first in his family to attend and graduate college. He graduated from THE University of Texas at Austin. While there, he served as a Texas cowboy and was the President of Interfraternity Council. He went on to attend law school, where he was elected class president by his peers. In 2019, he achieved his life goal of visiting all seven wonders of the world. He has also ran a marathon on the Great Wall of China, hiked to the base camp of Mt. Everest, survived the Amazon jungle, swam with sharks in the Pacific Ocean, explored the mountains of Patagonia, and tried walking on water at the Sea of Galilee.

This scholarship award is open to any first-generation college student or any student wishing to study abroad. The student must be currently enrolled in a college or university. Keep your eyes open for the Linda Lorfing Memorial Scholarship – we will begin accepting applications in August 2021.

Scholarship Summary & Eligibility

What to Submit?

  • Minimum 500-word essay or design and publish a video on TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat or Facebook.
  • Video Prompt: What it means to you to be “West Texas Tough?”
  • Proof of enrollment in a college or university (incoming freshman as well as graduate students may also participate in the program)
  • Application deadline is September 30, 2021

Who Can Apply?

  • Any first generation college student enrolled in an American University or any student looking to study abroad.
  • All programs and fields of study are welcome
  • Any year of study (including incoming Freshman as well as graduate students)
